RICKENBACKER 1959 model 4000 BASS
You may never see another vintage 4000 Rickenbacker bass like this again! These are just plain impossible to find! Any pre-1968 Rick bass is exceedingly scarce and rare! This 4000 bass is the first bass model that Rickenbacker produced. Serial #P9142.
Features: vintage, Single horseshoe pickup; mahogany neck through construction with maple sides; 1 chrome volume knob and 1 chrome tone control knob; mono output; unbound body; cresting wave body; 33-1/2" scale; 20 frets; clear plastic pick-guard with gold back painting; large cresting wave headstock; unbound rosewood fingerboard; 8 dot inlays; clear plastic finger rest; Schaller BM nickel machine heads. Comes with hard-shell case. 10.5 lbs without case. This is a Refin in maple glo-style color.
The bridge appears not to be original and has routing. Also there was routing for a front pickup by the former owner. The gold pick-guard is probably not original and there is a slight crack near one of the knobs. Neck has been re-fretted. Original two clear plastic bridge borders were not on when pictures taken and have since been attached.
